Bonnie's Training and Education


 

Bonnie is a member of the Association of Texas Midwives and adheres to the Association’s standards of practice.

 

She has completed the requirements for licensure in the state of Texas and maintain annual licensing with the

Department of State Health Services (formerly the Texas Department of Health - TDH).  Bonnie has completed the required training to be midwifery preceptor in Texas and is qualified to instruct and train apprentice midwives in classrooms study and clinicals as specified to satisfy DSHS licensing standards. She consistently exceeds the DSHS requirements for continuing education.  She attends numerous conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures to stay current on topics related to childbirth.

 

Bonnie is a  member of the North Texas Midwives Association (NTM), a local support and educational group.

 

Bonnie has completed the certification requirements of North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), the national midwifery education and testing organization and is a Certified Professional Midwives (CPM). Bonnie originally trained in England and received her educational qualifications through the University of East Anglia and practiced there in Ipswich Hospital, Ipswich Suffolk, England as a Registered Midwife, registered through the United Kingdom Central Council (UKCC). 

 

Bonnie and any other birth attendant with ESMI will be certified in Health Care Provider CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation (updated every 2 years).

Birth Experience:

Bonnie has attended over 900 births as a midwife and many more in other capacities (montrice, childbirth coach, doula, assistant to medical personnel) These other births have included underwater births, VBAC, twins and vaginal breech births, c-sections, vacuum deliveries and forceps deliveries.
